How Big is Space?

According to Douglas Adams, of Hitchiker’s Guide to the Galaxy fame: “Space is big. Really big. You just won’t believe how vastly hugely mind-bogglingly big it is. I mean, you may think it’s a long way down the road to the chemist, but that’s just peanuts to space.”

On a more serious note, if we understand ‘space’ to mean the observable universe, then it’s presently understood to be 93 billion light years (28 billion parsecs) in diameter.
